Part of the BLACKHAWK series. Very good.

This whole series is great reading. Jacob Carver is a tough, macho private eye who is frustrated at every turn by Clair Beauchamps (who is really a Blackhawk sibling who was separated from her brothers after a car accident which killed their parents.) She gets under his defenses without really trying and his favorite word is "Dammit!" I just loved watching him fall!

A mere three days before debutante Clair Beauchamp's big society wedding, sexy investigator Jacob Carver stunned her with news that she was actually a Blackhawk from Wolf River, Texas. Handed the perfect escape from a loveless marriage, Clair insisted Jacob reunite her with with her long-lost family. But their journey ignited a powerful connection, with the better judgment of both giving way to mindless passion. As Jacob branded that Blackhawk bride his own, they were each left to wonder: Had they been given this taste of heaven to keep, or were they destined to lose their hearts once Claire's world of wealth and priviledgd intervened...?
