It's extremely rare that I pick up a book and don't finish it, but I couldn't get past page 24 on this one. I was expecting something with a scientific basis, but this is primarily philosophical. A strong voice of "how everyone else has this wrong" pervades the work, which makes it is very hard to get involved in. Steve Pinker's works on the development of language are exceptional, which made this book a disappointment.
