Is it possible to "block" certain members from sending emails or transacting with me?

The only way you can do it is to refuse any orders from them and make sure you don't order any books from them.  If you order a book and it turns out to be the person you want to block (initiate a PM and you will see who they are), then cancel the order.  I have several people here on a list of members I don't want to do business with.  It's not hard to check my list when I get an order or make an order.

Just keep in mind that if you cancel an order for a wishlisted book that that person has posted, you then lose your spot and have to re-add the book to your WL and will be at the end of the line. Or if someone is requesting a book from you and you cancel the order, the book is removed from your bookshelf and if reposted, you are again at the back of the queue for that book.

But since PBS is based on FIFO (first in, first out) keeping track yourself of people you don't want to deal with is the only way to do it. I personally haven't come across anyone I don't want to deal with. For me, it's all about the books. But definitely if someone has been really rude or nasty to you in PMs you can certianly report them to the powers that be.

Thanks for the replies!  I'm an avid on-line gamer and it's usualy easy to block people with whom you don't want to interact.  I see it's not so easy here but the paperbackswap site is otherwise fantastic, so it's not a big deal to make a list or report people as needed.

Yuppers Donna, that's about the only feature not available on PBS...an otherwise fabulous site!

All of the above, plus look and see if they are on your buddy list. If they are, then remove them.

Also, since there are so many members, you aren't liekly to come across that member again if you are using the FIFO.

True.  My first instinct is to mention how very childish that sounds (hearing a whiny "But I don't wanna play with that person!"), but that's JMO.

It does sound childish.  But at the same time, there are some people that I just don't want them to have my address.
