Another thriller in the Due imagination. Many of the characters first introduced in The Living Blood, The Between are back in a hard to put down page turner.

This book is the highly anticipated third in the series covering African Immortals by Tananarive Due.

First - a synopsis for those new to the book: A race of African Immortals has been living under the world's notice for thousands of years. They were made immortal by their leader, who has performed a blood ritual on each of them. The blood was rumored to be from Jesus Christ when he died on the cross and some blood was stolen. The immortals have stayed seperate from the world, have never wanted to be a part of it -

until Dawit and Jessica. Dawit is an immortal who falls in love with Jessica. She is intelligent, funny, smart and basically Dawit falls so completely in love with her that he breaks his immortal vows and marries her, then giving birth to a child of limitless power.

Thats the synopsis - which is covered in My Soul To Keep, the first book, and The Living Blood, the second.

Now, for those who know about the first two books: I must say that it did not live up to my expectations. Without ruining anything, the ending was left open ended, which I assume was to leave room for book four. Also, I just didnt connect with the story, the urgency, and the characters the way I did before. It is a good book, even great, but no where near the concentrated power of the Living Blood (which is my favorite of the three) I would suggest you read it, because anyone whos read the first two has to read this one! But it didnt live up to my (admittedly) high expectations.
