With the murder of a woman living nearby and the disappearance of an actress who may be responsible, Chief Inspector Roper investigates. He finds help from a young woman who works in television and, eventually the murderer. For me, the test of a good mystery is whether or not the reader can determine who the murderer is before the author reveals his/her identity. The surprising ending focuses on someone this reader did not suspect. Quite a good mystery.
