A sympathetic and well-written account of Mary Tudor's sad life. The author does and excellent job of making the Tudor court and world come to life, particularly when describing the years of Henry VIII's reign and the danger Mary lived in until the death of her brother and her own rise to the throne.

I found that the story got bogged down once Mary took the throne, and I felt the author was a little TOO forgiving of Mary's religious zeal, but other than that, it's a fantastic bio, and very easy to read.

Well written, factually accurate, minimal conjecture or "artistic license"...well done, like all of Erickson's books.
