I have a hardcover book to list. When I put in the ISBN, it comes up as a "board book." I understand board book binding to be like the children's books that have thick laminated pages. My book is a typical hardcover: thick cardboard cover with paper pages. It is not a children's book. Am I misunderstanding the term board book, or should I list this "without isbn?" Thanks in advance, chele |

I've seen several that were mis labeled. I've even received one adult book that was listed as a Board book. (And sent it back out.) PBS will edit data, but rarely the binding. You need evidence. Even then it is hard to get a binding change. Basically the orginal was entered wrong. I took the risk and used the ISBN. But it is a risk. |

If there are no other copies under that ISBN (aka "Members Wishing: 0") then I would contact TPTB (I have had good luck with the data entry team passing things on to TPTB with things of this nature, but only if there are no other copies), I would tell them the reason and say that I will post the book if the change is made; note that they may or may not reply back if a change is made so you will have to watch the entry. If there is even one copy then I would list this "without ISBN". If there are members who are wishing for the book I would enter it "without ISBN" and then post it in the several book bazaar threads that are applicable. There are 4 copies in the system, so I did list it without isbn. Thanks for your help! |

I usually list them and then contact the member to make sure they are clear and get their OK. No reasonable person is expecting a 300 page book to be a board book! But if they don't write back, I cancel and might re-list without an ISBN. |
