- Western Historicals are not usually an interest for me but this is a really cute series!
- So far though, I'd place them in this order: "Bad Luck Wedding Cake" & "BLW Dress," "BLW Night," then "Her Bodyguard." I still have 2 to go and am looking forward to reading them as well. =)

Just before Emmas wedding in 1888, the 3 adult Menaces go to see a fortune teller. The seer tells them that their family came from Scotland and they are cursed. The only way to escape the curse is for each of them to find true love.
Emma is a widow when the story continues (two years later), Kat knows she is in love with an actor and Maribeth loves her candy store. Luke Garrett comes into Maris sweet shop and he starts making comparisons between Maris sweets and her kisses. Maris father walks into the shop and encourages this known outlaw to leave.
During a celebration, a fire started and 7 people were killed, including Kat and her beau. Mari gets a letter from a relative that hints that Kat is alive. Mari immediately plans to search for her sister; Luke cannot allow an attractive, unmarried lady to travel alone and he agrees to escort her.
The curse was a bit much but the dialog and adventures of Luke and Mari were entertaining. It is delightful to rejoin the Menaces as they grow into adulthood.

Worrying that it may be dangerous, she asks Luke to accompany her as her bodyguard. Luke is more than happy to accompany her. Besides wanting to both protect and seduce Mari, he has his own reason for helping in her search.
The McBride Menaces from the "Bad Luck Wedding" series are grown up and have their own series. I thought the book started out slow but it picked up quickly. My rating: 4 Stars.
