Boiled Over is the second installment in the Maine Clambake Mystery series. Julia Snowden is still busy trying to save her family's Clambake Company located in Busman's Harbor, Maine from financial ruin.

When Julia's sister Livvie volunteers her for a position on the Founder's Day Summer celebration committee, Julia is not too happy. On opening day of the festivities the Snowden family is busy setting up their "Claminator" on the town pier in order to serve the throngs of tourists an authentic New England Clambake. Julia is horrified when a charred foot falls out of the coals, it seems as though someone has stuffed the body of Stevie Noyes into the wood pit.

Cabe Stone, the newest employee of the Snowden company flees the scene and immediately becomes the prime suspect. Julia doesn't believe that her newest employee who had also saved her life a few weeks earlier could be the murderer and she sets out to clear his name.

In the course of her investigation Julia discovers that Stevie has an unsavory past and there may be quite a few people looking to seek their revenge on him by committing murder. In addition to uncovering clues and building relationships with the local townspeople, Julia is still trying to sort out her feelings for current beau Chris Durand.
