A Bone from a Dry Sea
Author: Peter Dickinson
Vinny is a spectator at an archaelogical excavation at which Li, a humanoid ape, is uncovered. Physically they are as different from each other as a distance of four million years can make them, yet in their thoughts they are probably closer to one another than to their own kind.

Interesting story and well written!

A Bone From a Dry Sea is told from the point of view of Vinny, a teenage girl who is spending the summer with her archeologist father in Africa on one of his digs. The story splits between Vinny's experiences "camping out" with her dad, and a story of a prehistoric young girl, the hints of whose possible life are found while searching.

It's a great book! I enjoyed the possibilities of the prehistoric!
