I've got a book request that going to timeout today.  It's marked will mail by July 30.  So what's my problem let it go through the system/

I received the book yesterday.  Apparently the person mailed it but didn't mark it mailed.  It's in excellant condition, I don't want another I'd like this person to get their credit.  How in the world can I do that?

I've PM'd yesterday with no response yet - life happens.

Do I let it time out and when it goes to another person cancel it?  Will I be able to mark the timed out transaction as received so the person can get the credit?  Oh, if I cancel the second request I could buddy a credit to the person that sent the book - but I don't want them to get two credits for one book.  I think I've confused myself!!!  Help!

Geri, I do know that the sender has a 2 day grace period after the mail-by date to actually mark it mailed.  Hopefully, they will do so (especially since they did indeed already mail it!)

If you have her info, you could PM her.  I don't know if it's possible to mark it received if they don't think it was ever mailed. LOL  Is there a spot for that?       :)    D.

If it was marked Accepted but never marked mailed, you'll be able to mark it received from your TA after it times out. Or you can buddy them a credit. Either way, they'll get just one credit. You'll just have to make sure you cancel the book request after it switches to another person, so you don't get two copies.

Geri, this happened to me last week. I received a book from a member whose book was still in the "Requested By Me" file. I pmed the member telling her what happened. I suggested to her that perhaps she forgot to mark it mailed and that I needed her to do that. She then marked it mailed and  I marked it received. It sounds like you did that already. But my sender answered and yours hasn't yet. I think I would contact the librarian.

Tamara, thanks, I forgot that part about the two extra days.

gardngal - I tried to find a spot to mark it received and got frustrated - so I'm here.

Tiffany, that's what I thought but the longer I thought the more mixed up I was getting.

Connie, I'm going to hold off a bit longer - maybe until I see that it has actually timed out.

It's a great copy of the book - looks brand new so I'd hate for her to lose a credit.  You never know some emergency might have come up and the package got into the mail sooner than expected and now she's not around.  I'll just have to watch it.

Thanks for the advice!

When it times out it'll go to your TA where you can mark it received. I would wait to make sure that you can cancel the 2nd request. Some people accept and print right away so that you can't cancel.

I would also PM the 1st person and say that if you had received another book you did not have to mark it received per PBS rules and that the next person might not do that for them.
