What does this mean?

It means the book is on your bookshelf, but not in the system to be requested by members, and can't be seen on your shelf by other members. It's designed to allow you to be able to read the books that you receive without worrying they'll be requested, and then be able to easily make them available in the system later. You can change this by going to your bookshelf, where you can change the hold and availability status of any books that you have listed.

I just received 2 books in a row that arrived in my mailbox only 3 days after the postmarked date.  For the one that arrived today, the "it's been mailed" e-mail came 2 days ago.  The sender used pre-printed postage, so it may have been printed the 9th, but sent the 10th.  Way to go Media Mail!

Sorry, I keep forgetting that just typing a new subject in the subject line is not how new subjects get started.

Also when you receive a book, there's a box that says something like "this is on your bookshelf, do you want to keep it there" (something like that) and depending on how you answer the question, it will either leave it there, or take it off.  As I don't use my RL in the way most people do, I take it off, and if I want to repost later I will.  Pat

Just an FYI-if you put an individual posted book on hold it doesn't hold your place in FIFO like it does with vacation hold. When you unhold that book it goes to the end of the line again.
