A member sent me a book 2 weeks ago and it is not yet here, I usually receive them in a week. Wondering what happened, I don't know if there is a way to track it, as I didn't get any information, only that it's coming from CA. I'll give it a few more days to see if it arrives.....and have until the 23rd before I can ask PBS about it. I understand how the Delivery Confirmation works, but what about when I'm on the receiving end, if the other person didn't get DC, can it still be tracked?

Hi Sheryl If the sender does not use DC then no there is no way to track the book. Normally I can get books from almost anywhere in the country in a week via media mail but I have seen times where books have taken 4 weeks or longer; no rhyme or reason, the book just takes that long to get to me.

No need to worry yet Sherry, there are reasons that the PBS system allows 28/30 days. But witout DC, there is no way to track any package. Although the vast majority of my books arrive in 7 to 14 days, some legitimately take a bit longer...especially when Alaska, Hawaii, APO or Puerto Rico are involved. Sometimes a sender has a RL situation and they mail a few days late (should have notified you, but many do not). Sometimes USPS mis-sends, and the book bounces across the country a couple times before arriving. And then there are the storms in the mid-west, mail can be delayed for sever weather, espcially Media Mail that is not a priority rate. There are legitimate reasons your book may have been delayed, hope it arrives soon! |

FWIW, I have 2 books en route(one from NM and one from GA) that are taking longer than usual and another coming from CA that's gone lost. None were sent with DC. I'm guessing that the awful weather in some areas may be slowing delivery down. |

I'm not worried about it yet....and I have plenty to read, it's just the first time it's taken longer. I live in OR - not a far stretch from CA. No weather issues here. I like PBS, it's great getting free books and sending some of mine off to new homes! |
