Help!!! I posted a book that is waitlisted, and on hold for someone to respond if they want it, but I need to delete it because I made a ISBN mistake! I PMed them, but even if they decline it, it's going to get put right back into the system and I'll have the same problem all over again! If I have the option to cancel a transaction after a person accepts a book, why in blazes wouldn't I be able to delete a book, thus "canceling" it, before they even get their hopes up and see it in on hold?

Yes, I am a newby, for those of you wondering! LOL

If I am not mistaken, if you put your shelf on vacation hold before you cancel the order (don't have them cancel or they drop back to the bottom of the wish list) then you should be able to remove it from your shelf at that time.  Once it's gone, pull it off of vacation hold and enter in the ISBN correctly and you should be good to go.

Well, I appreciate you trying to help; but unfortunately that didn't work! Even though I selected "vacation hold", I was still unable to delete the book. All of my ohter books listed have an open box that can be checked, except for this particular one which has an exclamation point and will not allow me to check it and then push delete to remove it.

Will I just have to wait til someone accepts it, send them a friendly appologetic PM (like I already did to the person it is on hold for) then cancel the order????? I am still waiting back from the last question I sent "management" or the "PBS team"--as I have heard them referred to as--so I didn't want to bombard them with questions and be a nagging new member!

Sigh...

You need to have it on vacation hold when the order rolls over.  Or cancel the order once accepted.  Or ask PBS to cancel it.

I did the same thing a month ago Rochelle.  I posted a book accidentally that was a wishlisted book.  Someone accepted the offer right away.  At that point I had to decline and just wrote that I made a mistake.  It happens.

From the Help Center:

  • If you have Posted the book in error, you will not be able to remove the pending offer.
    • You will need to wait until the book is requested, then click "I cannot send" on the request
    • You will have a chance to send a Personal Message to the requestor when you cancel.

Ask the member to accept the offer. If they do anything else, they lose their place in line. Once they accept the offer you will be able to cancel.  If the do nothing and the offer expires and you are on Vacation Hold, the book will be stopped on your Bookshelf and can be deleted.

There is no way to delete a book from your Bookshelf while it is being held for a Wish List offer .
