does anyone know how long it takes them to review and approve changes to book descriptions or uploaded pics of the cover?

I don't know the official answer, but my personal experience has been about a couple days.

It depends on the workloads of the volunteers approving the images and descriptions (they're usually different people), but Lisa's estimate matches my experience as well.

thanks!  I made some changes/updates/uploaded a bookcover and didn't know how long it took and was just curious

If we are all off busy doing other things, it can take up to 7-10 days. Generally you will get them in 4-7 days, and if we are all keeping busy with them, you can see approvals within hours to 1-2 day. Periodically we have approvers that are without computer, gone on vacation, sick, or just busy with life, and things slow down to the 7-10 time period, but not very often  :)

Do note that uploading an image using the upload link on the same page as data corrections does not work. If you use that link your image will be lost. The only two ways to upload an image is to click on the blue icon, or to use the Upload Book Covers link at the bottom of all pages.

Sherry, thanks for that tip.  I did use the link within the book corrections page.  I will have to reupload that cover (but will have to do it at work because I think that is where the image is!)
