There's a book I want to post into the system that's a WL book. The ISBN on here says that the book is a HB. However I am holding the book with has the exact same ISBN and it is a PB. I checked on Amazon and even the publisher's site and the book only comes in a trade size PB. (except for a HB large type but that was a different ISBN). I don't want to post the book yet b/c the wisher might be expecting a HB and not know that the book only comes in PB

But like i said the book ONLY comes in PB. how can i get the listing changed? I tried to do edit book data but there is no place for changing the binding. like i said the ISBNs are exactly the same, i think what happened is that the publisher changed the binding after the original listing was made.

You can send a feedback message using the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page. Provide all the info about the book and ask if they can change the binding type. It's rare, but sometimes they do it.

You should definitely not post this book using the listing as it is currently in the DB. You either have to post it without an ISBN, or wait until the PBS Team changes it, which may take a while.

I just had that happen to me with a book last week.  I sent an email to PBS and they said that the binding type is one of the things they can't change and then suggested I post it as a no ISBN book since the ISBN didn't match the description.  It's frustrating - I wish there was a way to get it changed!

As Cathy said, if you do research and can prove to their satisfcation that the hardcover edition with that ISBN was never published, you may be able to get them to change the binding.  Usually, though, the fault is the publisher's.  Publishers sometimes reuse an ISBN for a different binding, different edition, or even a different title.  In that case,  the first binding/edition/title posted here becomes the official PBS book attached to that ISBN, and anything else using the same ISBN has to be published as if it did not have an ISBN.

If they weren't real sticklers about this, you could post a book, say a paperback.  Someone else wants to post the hardcover with the same ISBN, and gets them to change the binding.  Now, the book YOU posted correctly would be listed incorrectly as a hardcover.  Having to list your book without an ISBN can be a bit frustrating, but it would be a mess if they let us change the bindings ourselves.
