I ordered a book that is a few days from going lost. I apologize if this has been asked a 100 times. Its my first time getting this close to this occuring. I checked the help docs. It states that after it goes lost, the requester should send a note to the sender to see if mailing the book was delayed. My question is...is there anything in the details below to confirm that it was mailed. If so, I wouldn't see the need to send a PM and would just let the system do its thing. I believe having the little truck doesn't indicate anything as it was sitting at my location for days once before and the good folks on this forum concluded that the book was mailed late. Which is fine. I am just looking for my responsibility in all this. Your thoughts? Susan

That means the DC was purchased for the book but it hasn't been scanned yet. THat doesnt' mean it wasn't mailed though. It's called Delivery Confirmation and any scans enroute are just bonus. So it could still show up. When a book enroute to me goes lost or times out because it wasn't marked mailed-I usually send a PM and just politely say "did you mail this book out? I would like to know before I reorder the book and end up with 2 copies". So far I haven't gotten a response ever and the books never showed up. They are all still active too (yes I checked) which suprises me that they wouldn't at least send a PM explaining that they mailed the book or it came back to them or something. But you never know they might respond to you and say "my husband forgot to mail it and it went out late" or "I mailed it right on time". |

Thanks. I wasn't sure if what I was seeing shouted out - "its mailed!" and asking the question was redundant. So, I should politely send a PM after it goes lost? |

yes, because if you order a second book and then this one shows up with an accurate post mark showing it was mailed within limits you will be out two credits because you will have two books. |

When I have a book go lost on either end (either I sent or I requested), I usually send a note to the person (after PBS has officially marked the book lost) to let the other person know that I'm sorry the book went lost. Sometimes I get a reply and sometimes I don't. Pat |

I currently have 2 books I've mailed out that still only have the original " Electronic Shipping Info Received " notation. It's been a while now and I'm upset that they haven't been scanned anywhere. Usually, they get scanned in Richmond or in Maryland (whichever way the book goes), I feel guilty that they haven't been scanned! LOL!! ;D Ruth |

Same with me Ruth. I have 3 that haven't been scanned. 2 of those packages are multiple wish list books. |

I think I got spoiled a few weeks ago where each of the books I received came within two or three days and were scanned multiple times along the way. Even the books I sent were there in days. Right now, I have seven books coming to me and none of them have scans and the first of the books was sent at the beginning of July. Not sure why sometimes the PO seems to be so quick and efficient and other times it seems like no matter where it's coming from there is a lag or something during certain times.
I think I have to learn to be more patient but it's hard when you get so excited about new books. |
