I have a book en route to me that is due to go lost in another week. I realize that I will get my credit back if it doesn't show up. However, when a book is declared lost by the system, does it automatically get re-ordered for you?

This is a book in a particular series and I really really want this one. I'm sure there are other copies in the system (I sure hope there are) but I didn't know if it will re-order it for me or if I would have to re-order myself.

I just wish I knew where the book was. It doesn't seem to show up for me where the book is--would it show up for the sender if he/she used delivery confirmation? I'd just love to know whereabouts the post office says the book is!

If a book goes lost, you get your credit back and then you are re-added to the wishlist for the book.  You are put in the #1 spot so when the book becomes available, you'll get first shot at it.  It will not be added as auto-request, which is good so that you can be alerted that the book has been posted and then deny it if the other copy finally made it to you.

The system will reorder it for you. The bad thing is that if it goes lost in the system and reorder it right away, as long as the first sender mailed it before the lost date, if you get two copies you will need to give credits for both copies. You might want to PM the sender in the last day or two and confirm that they sent it, maybe they have some non-PBS DC that can see where it is at.

I've PM'd the sender--I'm just so curious about where this book could be going on its trip :) I'm not upset about it or anything--things happen and I'm pretty darn patient. I'm just curious and thinking this book is having a nice little vacation somewhere :) This book is coming from CT to PA and usually that's a pretty quick trip. And I'm even thinking this book probably didnt need to go media mail but could go first class--it's a Mass Market paperback and judging from the other books in this series, probably under 6 ounces.

It's not a wishlist book so I don't need to worry about waiting for another copy but yeah, I was thinking if it gets re-ordered and then the other one shows up, I'll have two copies!

We shall see what the morrow brings :)

If the book was marked mailed by the deadline by the sender it will not reorder the book for you if there are others in the system. If it's a WL book it'll go on your WL. If there's other copies available they suggest you wait 2 weeks before you reorder incase the other one arrives.  Books coming or going to an APO/FPO address, Hawaii or Alaska can take longer than 4wks.

The only time it reorders the book is if the original sender failed to mark the book mailed on time. Then it assumes they didn't mail the book and reorders it for you.
