Hello Everyone.... I have a question....I mailed out a book 1/31 with DC and PBS gave me one credit. However, the person requesting the book hasn't gotten it yet, so I looked up the details where is tells you exactly where the book is, and all it says it electronic shipping info received. It has never changed. This is what PBS says about DC: you will get Quick Credit when USPS scans the barcode and transmits the scan to us. However....when I went to the USPS site and entered the DC number it said that it only received the shipping information and that it did not mean that the package was acctually accepted by the post office, only that the info that the package was coming was received. How can this be?!?! PBS says when the Post Office scans the book you get credit. However the post office is saying they don't have the book. I am so confused! HELP! Hi Tonia! This just means that the post office hasn't scanned your books yet. DC is really proof of delivery so the package doesn't have to be scanned until the book is actually being delivered, but in my experience, the package just about always gets scanned somewhere along the way. Since you already have the credit, you got it because you used the printable postage. When you buy postage here, you get the credit immediately, even if the DC hasn't been scanned. Edited because I read the question wrong, can't spell this morning...I need coffee! Last Edited on: 2/8/08 8:46 AM ET - Total times edited: 2 |

I printed the postage from PBS. I am sure I mailed the book but it's still stuck saying the electronic info was received and that's it. I feel bad for the requestor. Here she waiting and waiting and the book is stalled somewhere. Is this going to effect my standing with PBS??? I already emailed the requestor and told her the problem. I really do feel bad about this whole thing. That's why I print the postage from PBS so that I know the book is on its way. :-( |

I had this happen to me and the requestor got the book just fine. My DC was never scanned not even at delivery. It took almost two weeks for the book to get to her. It arrived safely, it just took a little longer than the rest of them have. I know it's hard not to, but don't worry. |

Media Mail can take as long as 4 wks on rare occasions, I don't worry about them until then. Hope that helps :) |

The book is probably moving right along as it should. Once it's in the PO system there is no requirement to scan it except at delivery. Just because it only says, the electronic info was received does not mean the book isn't in the system. It simply means the PO has not scanned it. |

It is still early, what only 11 days so, it is too soon to get worried. As many have said sometimes the DC gets scanned and sometimes it doesn't...and sometimes it gets scanned as delivered and it is still sitting at the post office... DC doesn't necessarily mean it has been delivered to the actual recipient. As the Recipient of several I've looked at the DC and most of the time it has that initial message and then absolutely nothing until 2 days before it plops on my doorstep. |

Thank you to everyone who responded. I really do want to do the right thing! I just sent a book out on Friday and it says the electronic info was received and then another post today saying that it was enroute. This is how it's been for all of my DC transactions execept this one. It's good to know that other people have had problems with the DC thing not working totally right. Thanks for the great advice! Everyone here at PBS is sooo nice! :-) |
