I have a book that was supposed to be mailed on July 2nd but i have yet to recieve it. Yes i am aware that i have until 7/29 before it goes lost but my real issue is that the book has DC yet the only event that has ever been posted it the standard electronic shipment info recieved..it has yet to be scanned once. I have also begun to recieve the emails from paperback swap asking if i recieved the book. Has this issue with the DC happened to anyone before?

This happens sometimes.  While typically  a package is scanned somewhere enroute, the post office, I think, is only required to scan it at delivery.

DCs are actually not scanned on mailing quite often. If the sender doesn't go to the counter to pay the postage, odd's are it will not be scanned before it gets to you unless it goes through a large sorting facility.

PBS has had some issues about scans not showing here, so if you have not checked it on the USPS site, I would recommend doing that. Maybe PBS just hasn't gotten the record of scans uploaded. Otherwise, patience, it really isn't that long ago, Media Mail can take a little bit sometimes. I wouldn't worry until the lost date in the system.

It is not unusual as the book moves through the system, that it does not get scanned until the postal carrier actually delivers it to your door.  I sure understand how you are feeling in this case.  If it is being sent Media Mail, it may well take over 14 days to be delivered.  Patience is hard, especially when you are really looking forward to the book, it seems like it takes forever!

I sent  out a book on BOB in May, she was due to ship at the same time, but nothing ever happened. I wrote the Librarian wondering what to do, he acct is not on hold, nor is she/he answering questions or letting anyone know if they are among the living. I don't worry about the two books I mailed as they have not shown up as rec'd, I suspect something happened to this member.  The Librarian said they would notify me if they hear from this person.  First time this has happened, but when you consider how large our membership is, it is amazing we don't have more stories such as these.   Hugs Pat

Depending on where you sent it, and I am assuming it was Media Mail, it could take that long for a book to be received.  I sent a package to Alaska and yes, it took a full month for it to be delivered.  I think there were also threads complaining about a seeming slowdown in the mail heading out west in general- so that may be it.

I also agree with the previous posts... unless you are actually bringing the package to the counter with a DC, it doesn't always get scanned until delivery....

I had one of these at the end of June---it did finally come, although I was quite nervous about it as the 'action date' approached...media mail sometimes just sits, I think.
