I just turned down a request with conditions (a pet allergy, I turned it down because I have two cats).  The book still has a wish list of 23, but instead of going back to my bookshelf, the book show up in my transaction log as a cancelled request.  I have turned down swaps with conditions I could not meet before and I don't think I had to re-post the book.  Is this new?

It should roll to the next in line. Is it on hold on your shelf?

This is new to me.  I thought that if you clicked that you couldn't meet conditions, your book would move to the next in line, while the requestor retained their top spot in the line.  Interesting..........

Did you actually cancel the request or simply click the button that says "DOES NOT MEET REQUESTOR CONDITIONS"

Canceling removes you from the FIFO line, but rejecting (in essence, saying this book does not meet the RC) keeps your place.

Also, did you get a note that said something to the effect, "Your book will be placed back to its position in the FIFO line"

It is no longer on my shelf, the only place I can find it is in the transaction log.  I must have clicked the "Does not meet" button, because it asked me for a reason.  I don't want to just re-post it, because it will probably go back to the same person, right?

Right...but you need to hit the "does not meet conditions" link not the cancel link.

Go ahead and try to post it...if it's still on your shelf it won't let you do it.

I just reposted it, and it went to 48 hour hold, so I don't think it's gone to the same person, because last time it got scooped up so quickly, the requestor must have had it on auto-request.

Thanks for the help!

That's what should have happened but it could have been a glitch.  (like the person posting about having 2 pending transactions for the same WL book to the same person).  Every time they make improvements to the site these kinds of glitches pop up.

I had a glitch like that a few months ago, but only discovered it this weekend.  Someone requested a book from me and then cancelled the request 5 minutes later.  For some reason, the book didn't go back on my bookshelf but just floated off into cyberspace.  Another book disappeared from my shelf but wasn't in the transaction archive, so I don't know what happened.

I reposted them both, but since they were each the only copy in the system, FIFO wasn't an issue.  Now, if that happened with some of the other books on my shelf I'd be really irritated, since I'm sure a couple of those are destined to languish for a couple of years!
