I'm sure that this has been addressed before.  I even think that it's happened to me before (memory is shot!).  Other than sending a pm to the sender, is there anything else that I can do?

To be sure that I am understood, I received a requested book today.  It has not been marked mailed; therefore, there is no place to mark it received.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Has the order timed out and been canceled by PBS? If yes, you can mark it received from your transaction archive. If the sender does not respond to your PM and mark it mailed, then you'll have to wait for it to time out, then you can mark it received from the TA.

ETA: Also, check and make sure that the order did not roll over to another member. If the original sender did not mark it mailed and it timed out, it will roll over to the next member (if the book is available). You don't want to receive 2 copies of the same book.

No, the order hasn't timed out.  In fact, it will be quite a while.  I'll just wait.  Thanks, Janelle.

Vivian, did you just receive it super fast?

If so, try PMing the other member and let her know you already have it, and that she needs to mark it mailed.

Are you sure it's still the same person?  It's possible that it already rolled over to the next person and that active request is not the same person as the one who sent you the books.  Because they only get so many days and unless it got mailed the 1st day and arrived within a day-there shouldn't be much time left.

What Mary said, you may wish to cross check who sent the book vs. who is supposed to be sending the book.  It's possible they are no longer the same person :-)  But unless they mark it mailed, PBS will not offer you a way to log the book in as received.

I was the "bad actor" in a similar scenario recently.  For the first time in my history with PBS, real life intervened and I completely forgot to mark a book mailed.  It got to the recipient within two days (before my mailing period ended) and the recipient very kindly PMed me so that I could straighten it out.  I felt very embarrassed!

I don't know why I said that it would be quite a while until the book times out.  Guess I was thinking about a book going lost.  And, yes, it did come very fast.  It is the same person.  He/she marked that he/she would mail it tomorrow.  It was actually mailed from Washington, D.C. on Saturday and I received it here (media mail) in south Alabama today.  Fast, huh?

I did send a pm, so perhaps this person will see it and mark it mailed.  I had a similar incident with the sender missing the time to mark it mailed and it timed out, although I had received the book.  I sent a credit anyway.

Thanks for all your help.
