I've not been getting e-mails to notify me when someone requests a book off my bookshelf. I've checked and they aren't going to my spam folder and I also checked my settings and my setting are set to recieve the notifications. Does anyone have any ides what I can do to fix this problem?

Thanks,

Jenn

I had that problem a few weeks ago and I checked all of my settings and I was set to receive notifications. Nothing in my SPAM folder either. I just hit my "update email setting" button again on the settings page and I started getting them again. Not sure if it was some sort of glitch or something.

The problem of PaperBackSwap book request emails not getting delivered occurs occasionally  with different email providers. There are basically two reasons for this:

1) Other members that use the same email provider may mark PBS emails as spam because they think it's equivalent to the Delete button, or they think that's how to stop certain optional PBS emails that they don't want (instead of disabling them in Account Settings). If this happens more than a few times, the provider may treat all or some of our email as spam and nobody that uses that provider will get the emails we're sending. With some providers, the email doesn't even get put in the spam folder (unless you change your settings to temporarily keep emails marked as spam).

2) Email providers are using ever-increasing measures to block spam, and that often results in legitimate email being blocked until the user contacts them to complain.

THE SOLUTION:

Almost every email provider will deliver any email that is from an email address that is in your Address Book that you maintain on their site. So add these two email addresses (separately) to your Address Book at the email provider's web site:

librarian@paperbackswap.com

noreply@paperbackswap.com

Yahoo! Mail users can use this new page to add both addresses very easily:

www.paperbackswap.com/misc/address_book_add.php

We hope to add links for other providers as time permits. The normal link to this page can be found next to your email address in Account Settings, but only if you are a Yahoo Mail user.

If you still aren't getting our emails after adding the two above email addresses to your online Address Book (a rare occurence), then you should contact your email provider and let them know that they're not delivering valid emails from PaperBackSwap.com.
