Am I out the postage/credit when a book returns to me because of a vacant residence?  I had been in communication with the user until this got returned and now I have heard nothing.  She had requested that I hold the book for 1 week and then mail it out due to her moving and she stated that the address was the 'new' address.

Am I just out my postage now??

Yes. Unless you here from her and she is willing to cover the postage to have you resend it. I don't ever send out books in questionable situations without DC. I'd rather spend the 45 cents and make sure I was not out the credit. You will have to decide if you want to just repost the book and send it out to someone else for a credit, or wait to hear from her and see if she will compensate you for the extra postage to get it to her. My guess is she is not answering you because she is in the middle of a move that has obviously not went as planned.

Personally, I'd ask her to buddy a credit to you for your book because (1) she has the wrong address on her account, (2) you are out postage and (3) you have lost your place in FIFO for the book (which may be important for a book that had been in the system for a while).

If she wants you to re-send, I'd recommend using PBS DC just in case.

Also, if you've tried to communicate with the member and she is not responding (give it a week), contact the PBS folks using the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of any PBS page to let them know.

Cheers,
