I wanted to know if there is a way to search for members who have a specific book.  If I'm looking for a trilogy or set of books I wanted to be able to order them from the same person.  I was looking for a way to search for members that have a specific title so I could check their bookshelf for the rest before ordering.  Is there a way to do this?

Here's what I do in this situation:

  • I search for one of the books in the series
  • if it is available, I click "ORDER"
  • on the next page, I click "ORDER MORE FROM MEMBER" (the order for the 1st book is not complete yet)
  • I search that person's shelf for more of the series
  • if they do not have any, I back out of the order. (the order will not go through as long as you do not click "PROCESS THIS ORDER")
  • I will try searching for a differnet book in the series and look at the next person't shelf
  • I'll continue doing this until I find someone with more than one book, or I'll get frustrated and give up

Unfortunately, there's no way to search o lot of different people using the same book. You can only see the person at the top of the FIFO list.

If you're not picky about the book type, you could maybe widen your search by doing the steps above and "test-ordering" all possible versions of each book in the series.

The only way (that I know of) you can search a larger group of people is to join the Box-O-Books program and search other boxers' shelves. I found someone with all three of the books in a trilogy that I wanted in this way.

Was that clear or did I just confuse you more? lol

No that clears it up.  I have tried that request and search method, but I get frustrated quickly.  Maybe that's something they could add, although I doubt it because of how it goes around the FIFO rule.  Thank you for the response.

You can search boxer shelves if you aren't a member.  I've found people with multiples I want that way. You could also advertise in the book bazaar because they aren't WL books.
