I am volunteering at the Decatur Book Festival Labor Day weekend.  I'm working at the Teen Stage/Author Signing Table.  The authors during my shift are

  • Eleanor Davis & Chris Schweizer
  • Ally Carter
  • Terra McVoy & Lauren Myracle
  • Aimee Friedman & Jackson Pearce

I'd like to read something by each of them before I meet them.  Ally Carter I'm good on - I have the Gallagher Girls series on my TBR, but I need suggestions for the others.  What would you suggest I read from each other them?

I'll probably hang around the stage the rest of the afternoon.  The rest of the authors are

  • Richelle Mead and Maggie Stiefvater
  • Jon Scieska
  • Sara Shepherd
  • David Levithan
  • Laurel Snyder, Robert Olen Butler, Marc Fitten, Michael Malone, and Hollis Gillespie

I'm good on the first bullet, but I'd like suggestions for any of the others if you have them!

Oh my gosh, I'm so jealous that you get to see all those authors, Jenna! Let's see... Jackson's first book, AS YOU WISH, is coming out on August 25, and it is fantastic. A great love story with a hint of magic (I mean, genis? Yeah!). This one is worth the list price, so I'd encourage you to preorder it if you can.

I don't particularly care for Aimee's books, but SEA CHANGE is a decent love story involving mermaids--or at least the possibility of them. Jon Scieska, hmm... is that the author of the Time Warp Trio books? If so, those are a ton of fun. Geared towards elementary and middle schoolers, but worth reading. And David Levithan is brilliant. Besides being the editor of dozens of books you've probably read and loved, he wrote some great GLBT YA lit, such as Boy Meets Boy. His book Love is the Higher Law is coming out late August, about several teens and their responses to 9/11. Plus he co-wrote Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist with Rachel Cohn, which was a fun read.

Anyway, I hope you have a ton of fun at the festival! It looks fantastic!

David Levithab - Nick and Norah!  The other books I read by him were good, too - The Realm of Possibility and Are We There Yet?

I enjoyed Rhymes with Witches by Lauren Myracle.

Sorry, I don't really know the rest of the ones you were needing suggestions for....
