I remember reading a book that I think came out in the 80s or earlier (not sure, it has been 12 years since I read it) It is about a young woman who is flogged or whipped against a large tree (I think for trying to run away or defying him in some way) in front of onlookers by the man who is her husband or employer? I also remember that he forces her to have sex with him on more than one occasion. The man is rich and has a large estate it seems.

If you know a book that sounds similar, please let me know. I tried SBTB, but they can only submit so many HABO to their website every so often, so no help there.

Many thanks to Michelle H. (CandyCentric). I just happened to be glancing over her reminder list and I think I might have found the book that I have been looking for (for many years). It is Woman Of Fury by Constance Gluyas. I will read it and get back to you all if I am correct. :) Here is the storyline:

Throughout all England flames licked at the flesh of women accused of witchcraft, a horror that thrust ever closer to beautiful young Shalada Lorne.

The man who falsely claimed to be Shalada's father and savagely hungered to be her lover had the power to condemn her to the stake. Already he had ravished and ruined the lovely Rebecca - the woman who was secretly Shalada's mother. And Shalada vowed never to suffer that fate.

Rather she would use her tantalizing sensuality to turn the gallant nobleman she loved into a weapon of hate in her hands...rather she would lead the monstrous man she loathed along a path of desire that would surely destroy him....

That also sounds like the story line for This Other Eden - by Marilyn Harris.   (late 70's - I think it was a 6 book series about the Eden Family)

Hope this helps, smiley

How funny! Turns out that the book I was looking for is not Woman Of Fury by Constance Gluyas. Weird thing about it is that it is written by Constance Gluyas. The title of the book is Savage Eden. Finally, I have found it. Thanks everyone for the help!!!

Book excerpt:

A breathtaking saga of tempestuous love and raging passion that sweeps across two continents.   — THE INNER FLAME OF LOVE -- THE DARKEST FIRES OF DESIRE — Beautiful Caroline Fane thought she had known the ultimate in degradation and danger when she was unjustly accused of adultery and murder and flogged naked in public.  She just barely ...  more »escaped the gallows with Justin Lawrence, the daring, flamboyant highwayman, whose lust for her she could not resist.  But now in the New World, Caroline and Justin were thrust into bondage at the notorious plantation of slaves, and a sadistic mistress intermingled in strange relationships, demanding erotic satisfactions.  It was here that the two lovers united in an alliance of never-to-be forgotten passion, fire and tenderness, each sworn to save the other from the carnal appetites that raged in this... SAVAGE EDEN.

Oh my freakin' goodness, I think this is a book that I've also been looking for. Every time that I post what the book was about on any forum they kept telling me it was another book - blanking on the title right now - and I knew it wasn't the other book but everyone kept insisting it was.

Edited to add ...

The book that they kept telling me it was - Stormfire by Christine Monson
