Hi PBSers! Question!

When I post a sale or something in the book bazaar I typically copy all the titles from my shelf into my thread. That way if someone does a board search for a title it will come up. I kinda wish other people did this too bc I search the board a lot for titles I am looking for deals on. Once the title is gone I go back and delete it so it is no longer searchable.

I know this isn't exactly feasible when someone has, like, 100s of books on their list, but do you think it would be a good idea for people to follow my lead, or too much trouble?

Just curious, not trying to stir up drama or anything (which seems to happen to fairly innocuous threads on PBS sometimes!) TIA!

My personal opinion is if it is repeating your shelf I think it just makes things messy. I can click on the Bookshelf button to see the books and from there I can link to the details, see if it is on one of my lists, resort, search, etc. I often don't even read cluttered posts.  The only time I've found it useful is if someone has a huge shelf and is running a deal on a specific segment, then I don't have to comb through their whole shelf to find the books they are talking about.

along the same lines- I wish people would post in the title of their thread( in the bazaar) what types of books they have.  I do not have time to go thru all of the threads, but I will look at ones that mentions the type of books that I like.

I agree Jessica, and also find it helpful.  When viewing the 'Is This On Your Wishlist' threads, it's becoming more common to not post links...sometimes it's difficult to tell exactly what is being offered.  If I'm looking for a specific copy, or title with similar name it's doubly hard.

That's a good suggestion, but not always feasible if someone has a diverse shelf. If you had romance, mystery, children, teen, war, biography, sci fi, fantasy, paranormal, etc.  that would take up the whole title  line and more.  I can usually tell from looking at  the first page of someone's bookshelf  whether they might have something I'm interested in, and if the shelf is too large (more than one page) I can always do a search by genre, author, etc., to see if they have anything that interests me.   Pat
