Is anyone else having problems tracking books that they have sent out or are on the way to them? I have a book on it's way to me that shipped last week that I can check no problem but, I have another book that's on it's way to me and one that I shipped out, both of them sent in the past 5 days. and there is no tracking info for them on the map when I go to the map to see the status.

Is the post office just not scanning the barcode or is something wrong with the tracking?

I have seen the same thing on my end - both books I have sent and books I have recieved.  I don't know where the problem lies.

The barcode probably hasn't been scanned.  The barcode is for Delivery Confirmation so it does not have to be scanned until the book is delivered.  Most times a book will be scanned in transit, but not all.

The map is only a PBS tool that "guesstimates" where a book is in transit. If the books were mailed using PBS DC you can click on the details tab for the book under "En Route to Me" and as long as it has been scanned you can see the last PO clearing house it passed through.

If PBS DC wasn't used you could track it via the USPS tracking IF you had the DC number.

I've noticed with mine sometimes its scanned right away and sometimes on the way, sometimes when delivered.........

But when I take it to my "regular" post office the lady there is used to my book mailings now and she scans it for me when I give it to her........but i've also noticed if its scanned at the beginning, it might not be scanned every stop.  So there's no rhyme or reason.

The last book I received with DC never showed up on the lil map, not even a starting point.  All I ever got is the map no car, no nothing.  Which is odd since the person paid for DC and the book arrived in a very timely manner.  Could be a glitch in the system.

Straight form the UPSP web site. if you are getting tracking mid shipment. then it is luck, not standard.

Services that Confirm Delivery - General Information

Delivery Confirmation Services do not provide tracking information of the item enroute. These services are designed to be a low cost alternative to tracking. The only status provided for these services are the date and time of delivery or attempted delivery.

Okay, I think the OP is saying that there is NOTHING on the map.... and shouldn't the mailed-from "red" dot show up even if the book isn't EVER scanned? Recent book mailed to me with DC, I click on the check-mark to see where it was mailed from. Is that right? I know scanning is iffy, but when/where it was mailed from should come on immediately, right?

I think it's the PO not sending the info.  I KNOW that a book that I sent was scanned, because I watched it, but nothing shows up.  I don't think it's PBS.
