So, I started a transaction with someone before the site started this new membership thing.  I just got an email stating that the book was lost in the mail.  I clicked on the person's name and it appears that they are still active, but is there a way to know for sure?  They have no books posted, but do have a wishlist and a few other things on their profile.  I PMd them to confirm the book is lost but have not heard back from them, which is what made me wonder if they are a real member here or not.  (I do know that ALC members apparntly can't respond to PMs...not sure how to tell what sort of member this person is, if they are still a member).  Any thoughts?

ETA: Just looked at the profile again and now I see that she is a standard member.  Okay, so I guess she is just not responding to my PM! :)

Well, sometimes books that go "lost" end up eventually getting to their destination.  I once had a book go back & forth across the US before it got to where it was going.  I had used printable postage when I mailed it so I could see on the map on my page that it was getting scanned in all random places.  It went to Arizona (which is where it was being mailed to), but for some reason it then ended up going to Dallas instead of the right address in AZ.  Then it was scanned in California before it went back to Arizona!!  I'm not sure why.

So sometimes weird things happen.  Don't give up.  The book may finally get to the right place.

I once received a book more than six months after it had been mailed. No idea where it was all that time.

I sent one out once which went lost.  Apologized but assured requester that I'd sent it.  Never heard anything, but 6 months later I got my credit for the book, and when I went to send a PM to the requester about it having seen the country or something, found the account had been closed, so I'm guessing that TPTB closed her account for something and I received the credit from the site.
