There is a boy at church who likes to read some, but he has trouble finding books he likes. He likes the Chronicles of Narnia, and he likes mysteries. Can anyone suggest some titles or authors that he might be interested in? |

Try the Landon Snow books by R.K. Mortenson. They're fantasy type books, good for those that are fans of Harry Potter. |

You might try looking for some of the young adult books by Stephen Bly. He has a western series about a boy named Nathan T. Riggins (I believe that is the title of the series) and a series set in modern day called the Lewis & Clark Squad, which is about a 3-on-3 summer basketball league. I loved both of them as a preteen and still do as an adult! :-) |

He might like the Left Behind Kids books. There are tons of those out there. There seem to be many more books geared toward young adult/tween girls than boys. My son is almost 10 and he has a difficult time finding Christian books that are interesting to him. Mostly, he reads secular books that we choose together. Don't forget some of the older classics--my son loved Homer Price this past year. Right now we're reading The Mysterious Benedict Society, which is excellent, although a secular book. Melissa |

I have heard great things about the Adventures in Odyssey. My son also enjoys the Larryboy chapter books. Last Edited on: 6/28/08 4:56 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

There are some great devotion style books written for boys that age. They are speciffically designed to appeal to boy's interests. There are four: Bible Wars and Weapons, Creepy Creatures and Bizarre Beasts from the Bible, Weird and Gross Bible Stuff, and Bible Heroes and Bad Guys. My 10 year old loves them.

The Star Fighters of Murphy Street series come to mind. Book 1: There's a Space Ship in my Tree! by Robert West. My son completed the fist two recently and enjoyed them.
