I seem to remember a book (or books) I read about somewhere that was about a family that gave up their house and such and went on the road to homeschool? any ideas on what book it may be?

I don't recall a book, but there are several blogs/sites about the same thing.  About 10 years ago a family where I used to live did this.  They had a very extensive site.

Here is a list of links:

I don't know whether this book is the exact one you are talking about, but I read One Year Off about a family who sold everything to travel and see the world. It is One Year Off: Leaving it All Behind by David Cohen.

I don't know which curriculum you are using, but that's why we like ACE so much.  I toured with a singing group my junior year and was able to completely able to keep up and didn't have huge books to bring with me everywhere.  I had one backpack full for the enteire time and only had to get out the PACES I was working on out which are between 20-60 pages depending on the grade.  It was so easy to tour and do school on the bus and when I came back I wasn't behind at all.
