Dina, have you tried posting this in the "Bazaar" thread? That is where folks usually post about their shelves and books. You probably won't get much action posting in this thread as it is a book/author discussion forum. |

You might look at the most WL books and see if you have any of them. If there are multiple copies of your books in the system then it may take awhile. I joined about 2 weeks ago and I've already sent out about 15 books. |

Dina, you have many books that have multiple copies already in the system. Someone mentioned offering a deal in the Bazaar. I think that might be a good way to get some activity on your shelf. |

A deal in the bazzar is a good idea--also, I know from my experience that it goes in fits and starts--I won't get a request in weeks, then I'll get 3 or 4 in two days. |

Someone kindly told me that I needed to make a profile for myself as that tended to make people more likely to swap with me. I have always had a lot of requests for my books but I think making your profile public helps as well. I guess there are people who fly in and fly out and people want to know you're a legit swapper.

I did take a look at your shelf and noticed that it's fairly small at this time--that's fine, of course-- but not as likely to pull books for the FIFO system as frequently as you might like. Also, you have a concentration of a few authors and (I'm guessing) some that usually have a lot of titles posted. :) I see that you're a fairly new member, so don't be discouraged! You could add to your shelf fairly inexpensively by haunting Goodwill (or the like), garage sales and just telling your friends and family that you'd like to have any books that they're done with and aren't keeping or trading. Obviously, newer titles are requested more quickly, and everyone is right that having a profile increases your chances. Offering a deal is also a good idea and you might want to just buy some credits to get your Tom Robbins books. There are lots of his in the system right now. You can buy credits through the Kiosk or through another member on Book Bazaar. Becoming a "boxer" is another really easy way to evenly swap books on your shelf for ones you're looking for. Sometimes, the books on a member's shelf don't have cover images or descriptions but yours is pretty good. I am going to add it to my list to investigate to see if I can make it more complete for you. :) Good luck and happy reading! Sharon edited to add: found cover images and descriptions for almost all, so your shelf is more complete now! :) edited again cause I couldn't type... I'd have to asy that you should REALLY try Box O Books. I paid for my year membership when I first started, and have swapped A LOT of books that way. In fact I have about 10 pending box o books offers right now, lol. It gets the books out that I need to move, and I get to find books that I've been looking for to complete a collection, or just books that I'd like to read in the future. I really recommend it, and you don't have to use up your credits. Offering a deal is also a good idea, I've done that a few times and have gotten some books moved.
Good luck here at PBS! Jenni |

The first couple of months I was here I hardly had any orders off of my shelf. I joined games and started getting more WL books and new releases. Now (a year later) I have about 1 order a week--sometimes more. Try offering a deal like others have suggested. And then just build up your bookshelf!! Good luck!! :) |

I have taken a somewhat different approach with my books that don't move. We have a couple of bookstores that buy and trade used books. So I take them down there after checking the wish list to see what people are looking for. I trade my books for some of those and then post them. Voila! they are gone. The books that the book stores don't want, I donate to the library. Try it, it should work for you too. Jeanne |

I joined a month ago and have mailed 175 credits worth of books and have 30 more to send by Monday so far. I looked at what I had and then searched under wish listed books. Probably half of what I post gets snatched up immediately. I tagged a lot of my books, but was careful to use existing tags mainly, preferably with a lot of hits already (as you enter the tag, a pull down list appears with hit counts). In addition, some books do not have much info attached to the ISBN, so I use the tags to help a member. For example, I posted Bessie Head's The Collector of Treasures...and the subtitle didn't show up, which is and other Botswana Village Tales. So, if someone is interested in reading more about Botswana (as I was after reading about The #1 Ladies Detective Agency), they can see if by the tags I put: Botswana, African Writers, African Fiction, and the subtitle. I also have written some reviews and will do more. That helps give more information when someone is trying to choose. I also have a lot of true crime and children/homeschool stuff. I list deals in the bazaar. That moved some more and made more space to list more. And posting non selling posts helps you get more Bookshelf traffic. I frequently go to the bookshelves of people who clearly like the same kind of things I do. And I go to the shelves of people who have ordered books from me because they probably like the same kinds of things. So the first thing I did was buy myself some credits and spend them. I also keep around 300 or so books on my shelf. Maybe this will also help you. |

I didn't have much activity either as I have a very small list but I have found that the Box of Books swap has been the best!! People are great about swapping. Don't let the name fool you. You can swap out only 1 book if you want. Good Luck! |

I think it goes in spurts. Some weeks I might get no orders...or just one. This week when I'm just scraping by on cash, I've mailed 4 and I have 3 that need to go out tomorrow. Hang in there! :) |
