Just wondering if this is happening to anyone else: The last two books I received were a mess. The first one, wrapped in two layers of heavy brown paper, had been completely torn open and just left that way, and the front corners of the book were crushed. The fairly heavy plastic wrapper on the second book was torn all along the edges as if the edges had all been scraped by something. Just to clarify, I do not put any blame on the mailers. In both cases, the books were well wrapped. Also, a few months ago, a book I sent very well wrapped, was returned to me as undeliverable because the wrapping was badly torn...and to top it off, they didn't return to me it until at least 3 weeks after I mailed it! I had to send PM to receiver to explain what happened. Is this just a problem for others or is it just my post office?

I had a book about BDSM arrive with tire marks on it-got a good laugh out of that one! I had another one arrive all mangled. I just had a book enroute to me go lost where the sender used DC and it shows as delivered. I haven't seen it yet. I checked at my Post office and they just said it's been delivered. If it was delivered it wasn't to me. |

Returned mail items always take a long time, I think three weeks is kinda standard. Frustrating 'cause ya don't know it's coming back, then long after you thought it arrived, it's back in your mailbox and you have to start over. My first experience with the 13 oz rule was like that. Dropped it in my local post office box, and it came back much later. How long can it take to walk across the aisle from receiving to outgoing carriers in the same small post office? |

I just had the post office deliver a mangled brown envelope to me. It was just a regular brown envelope. The 2 books that were supposed to be inside are nowhere to be found. It was stamped as received without contents somewhere in Dallas . The sender used delivery confirmation and that shows the books are in California. I live in Dallas. .... Doubt I'll ever see them! |

Glad I found this thread. I was just looking to see if this happened to others. I just now received a book that was literally almost wadded. I wish I could post you a picture. I was wrapped in regular paper per PBS directions, even wrapped in plastic wrap on the inside. The package is torn open on one end. Torn? It looks more like it was chewed. Even the packing tape was torn! The end where it was torn was black, as is the bottom of the book now. The thing that gets me is how mangled the book itself is. It is deeply bent in several places. Even the spine is bent and cracked! I've never seen anything like it! The sad thing is, the book looks like it was in really great shape before the PO got hold of it. :( Gonna try to read it anyway. Then I guess I'll have to trash it. This goes way beyond unpostable, I think. |
