Hello, I am new at this. This week I sent out 7 books that were requested from me. At least 2 of these were delivered according to USPS delivery confirmation. I have received no credit. The reason I ask is because a book on my wish list has come up and I need a credit. Is there anything I can do to get the credits I earned? Thanks, Michael |

Hello, I do now have a credit but I don't know how to tell who it is from. Michael |

Welcome Michael! To see where you got a credit, you can go to the "My Account" tab, click on "Main" and then underneath the tabs at the top, third from the right you'll see "credit registry." Click on that and it can see where your credits are coming from and going to. |

It sounds like the credit you have now is from Geri, as she said she sent you one. Believe it or not, delivery conformation is not terribly accurate. It could have been delivered to the wrong house, or it may have just gotten to the correct post office but has not yet made it to the receiver. If you are going to spend the extra money on Delivery Conformation, you might as well buy it through the site. That way you get your credit as soon as it is first scanned, and do not have to wait for the recipient to mark it as received.

You need to use the PBS USPS DC form to get automatic credit, not the post office form. And you need to have your post office scan it in. Otherwise the receiver has to push the book received button before you get credit. So you are waiting for them to record your books. |

Also not everyone has computer access everyday. They may only have it at work in which case it might be a day or two until they get to work again before it's marked received. Or they rely on the library computers and can't get to them everyday. |

Or the weather. At this time of year both power and phone lines are often interrupted. |

Thanks again Geri R for the credit. That was very kind of you. I use the delivery confirmation through my paypal account because it only cost me $.18. Michael |

I use paypal postage a lot too, though if I need the credit soon, I use PBS postage, because the extra charge is worth it to me so I can get the credit immediately. I haven't had a book go lost (cross fingers), but I've had them not marked receieved for several weeks after they were marked delivered. In all but one of those instances, I later got a pm that the person had been ill or there was bad weather or they were away. The other time, I think it was just scanned delivered before it actually had been. I've been on the other side of that as well, looking at the tracking info to me that says "delivered" 3 or 4 days before I saw the book.

I had no power for 3 days last week and I think there are still people in the area without. |

Geri, It was so sweet of You to give a credit! |

Michael, You can PM those you sent the books to and ask them if they have received their book yet. If so, could they mark it as delivered so you can get your credit. I did this once and the person was very nice and marked it immediately. They had been busy and forgot. Christina |

I use the delivery confirmation through my paypal account because it only cost me $.18. Just so you know, using delivery confirmation through paypal or any other method other than this site will do nothing for you in terms of guaranteeing your credit. The only way paperbackswap will guarantee your credit is if you buy DC through this site. Otherwise, it doesn't matter - even if USPS is showing it as delivered, that won't mean anything here. So, in my opinion, it's kind of a waste of money to buy it elsewhere. You pay a bit more to use DC through this site, but that extra fee supports the site and gives you peace of mind about your credits. |

I mailed a book this morning and received this immediately after marking it as mailed.
Great news from the PaperbackSwap Librarian! The book 'XXX' by XXX you mailed with Printable Postage has earned you 1 credit. When you mail a book using PaperbackSwap's Printable Postage, you will get your credit(s) as soon as you mark the book as 'Mailed'. It doesn't get any faster than that! As a courtesy, you will receive another email when the book has been marked 'Received' by the requestor. I also use the DC so I can sort of track it. There is no requirement for the post office you ship from to scan a Delivery Confirmation barcode when you drop it off. It is for delivery only, not tracking. Use PBS printable postage to get an instant credit as soon as you mark the book mailed to avoid waiting for delayed responses, delayed deliveries, etc in a book being marked received.

Per the Help Center: "USPS sometimes scans a package as "Delivered" when it reaches the requestor's local Post office
