I recently mailed a bunch of packages from the blue bin in front of my post office. Their hours are terrible and there is no way I can get there when they are open so I use PBS postage. However a couple of the packages were small, lightweight items and I simply put stamps on them and put them in the bin as well. Today they got returned to me which doesn't make sense. Both packages were WELL under 13 oz - I know b/c I weighed them. One was 7 oz and one was a CD and only 2.5 oz! But they were both marked with the message about the 13 oz rule! On top of that, the post office cancelled my stamps! I didn't think they were supposed to cancel stamps on items that were returned unless they got all the way to the recipient and then got returned. Mistake on the part of the post office, or new rules I don't know about? |

its a mistake by the post office because you have electronic DC you would have to go the post office so they can correct their mistake... remeber they are usually open on saturdays too |

Definitely a PO mistake. You could try writing the weight somewhere on the front of the package. Sounds like someone was just sorting out any package with stamps that was dropped in the blue box without verifying the weight of it. |

Agree...PO mistake. Unfortunately, you will probably have to take it in and have them correct the error (including postage). ETA - I assume you added .19 for USPS portion of electronic DC? Last Edited on: 1/24/10 11:09 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |
