I did a 3 for 1 deal in the BB on some children's books. Had an order, shipped it on the last day possible. Not sure what happened but got a message from the sender stating that I had sent her ONE bad condition book. This message from the sender came less than 2 DAYS after I shipped the book so she couldn't possibly have even received it yet and I PM'd back to tell her that. She never responded to me but today I got MY package back, containing all 3 books, marked refused, return to sender. I had  to pay return postage for it since it went out media rate.

This was NOT a behind-the-scenes deal. The requester did indeed request one book from me and I printed out and used the PBS label and PBS postage. If she originally accidentally ordered the one book from another sender, it would have had to time out and come to me, and I got the request the same day we worked out the deal via PM. So I'm just not sure what happened here, and I'm a little ticked  that I had to pay postage twice on a deal that was supposed to save me postage.

She is not allowed to refuse a package that contains a book she requested and which does not have any postage due. You can contact PBS by using the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page and ask them to intervene.

Also, did she open the package? USPS is not supposed to take back a package that's been opened, although there's nothing you can do about that.

No the package had not been opened.

I used PBS postage and DC so  I got my credit anyway. Plus she marked the ordered book received which I when I figured out she must have gotten a copy from another sender. But I don't understand why she would have returned the books when my package contained the freebies she had  requested. Especially since she had complained that the first book she received was in bad condition.

Maybe your book timed out, she quickly got the next in line senders book- which was damaged-,she maybe RWAPed that one, refused yours, and is on to shipper number three????

She must have gotten the senders mixed up. Or she received more than she bargained for and decided that refusing a pkg. would fix things. Of course she was wrong.

I would send one more polite PM letting her know that she refused the package that contained ALL of the books you sent her, the book requested and the freebies. Since you had to pay return postage to get the books back, you will not be attempting to do any more follow up on the transaction.

I would probably follow up with Feedback letting the Team know that she refused the package. Even if she marks it received, she should not be refusing it and costing the sender return postage.

And if the package hadn't been opened there is no way she could have known the book was damaged!

I wonder if maybe she made a mistake when ordering for the deal-ordered one of the books from the details page or something and it went to someone else.   But she PM'd you and you removed the freebies she asked for and left 1 on your shelf .  So then she goes and orders that one from you at some point (different book from the other one).  Maybe she thought she cancelled the incorrect order or didn't realize it was 2 different people.  So then the 1st book comes and it's damaged and she thinks it's one of the books that she ordered from you in the deal.

I've done deals before and had people who didnt' understand  how it works-order all the freebies from me as well as the official book.  So then I had to accept and then ask them to cancel the freebies or buddy back credits. If she did that and messed it up-she could have ordered 1 from you and the "freebies" from other people not realizing what she did.
