Is there a reason to hide Books Sent or Recieved in your profile ? I notice ppl do this, and I'm not sure why, or if I should be hiding mine too.

TIA

Sara, I belileve hiding this info is the default setting, so maybe people just aren't going in and changing the defaults?

And, some folks found if they bought credits (so their requests were higher then sends) they were accused of not participating.

And if the requested # was way lower than the shipped out they got PMs accusing them of being horders.

I miss them.  I think they're fun.  I like to pull up the maps and see all the lines and dots!  But then, I also like to play with the horn on the little truck.

You have to get your jollies where you can find them.

(I don't know if my sent/received stats are visible or not!)

Some people do it for privacy reasons, as well.  It shows what part of the country the book came from and they don't want that information readily available.

Being a privacy freak, I considered this myself, but . . .

If someone orders a book from you, they have not only your general location in the state, but your complete name and address as well.  And aren't these stats available only to members?  I guess someone might join just to locate a particular person, but they would have to be very dedicated and lucky for that to work!

Is there an aspect to this that I'm missing?

Thanks, Cindy -- I had completely forgotten about the option to use PBS as a return address.  But you're still "exposed" if you request books -- yes?

I think many people don't realize it's the default now.  Some may be choosing it; however, when I send a book I always look at the profile and before the change, the stats were almost always visible.  Now they are almost always hidden.

When I asked about it in the other forum, some people didn't know about and others had found the wording misleading (it sounded like it would show a list of all the books that were mailed).
