Hello Everybody!

Thank you again for all the generous people who have helped me in my quest to provide our troops with books!  The response by PBS members as been AMAZING!

I am still sending out books, and will be doing this for as long as I can afford the books and the postage :)  Please let me know of any deals you would like to offer.  While I won't turn down any free books, as far as spending credits I am really looking for books from the Sci-Fi and Fantasy genre.

Also, another area I have been noticing a request for is magazines.  Mostly men, but some women are requesting magazines...everything from health to cars to hunting to Vouge.  If anybody would like to donate magazines I would be happy to offer a credit to offset the cost of shipping.

I hope I am allowed to post this here...don't mean to break any rules.  Just thought people might habe magazines they were looking to get rid of and could donate them to a good cause.

Thanks again for taking the time to read this post.  I am keeping an eye on my PM's so please feel free to PM me with any offers or questions.  It make take me a little while to get back with you, but I will.

Also, if anybody would like to include a personal message with your books for me to foward to the soldiers I would love that and I believe the soldiers would too.  I understand that while they don't always have time to write back they love getting mail and reading letters.  They like to know who it is they put their life on the line for.  So please feel free to send it with the books or PM me and I will put it in the box.

Thanks again,

Jessica

Jessica,

I am sorry but I do not have any Harlequin books to send you.  I just wanted to say that I also belong to Books for Soldiers, and I agree it is a really good cause.

I don't have any harlequin but I will do a 3 for 1 if you want.  That is an awesome idea and a great way to support our troops!!!!   Just let me know if you see anything you would like.

I have several Harlequin and Silhouette posted to my shelf.  I also have many more that are not posted.  Just let me know how many you want and I'll give them to you for 3 credits.  I know I have enough to put together a decent sized box of probably close to 20 or more.  I'm always trying to get rid of them, so if someone who is on the line protecting me can use them, they can have them.

I have an endless deal on all of my Harlequin books - 6 for 1.   I have some Silhouette books, a lot of Historicals and several other type Harlequins.  I will PM you about the unposted  and unpostable books that you can have.

I don't have any books that would fill your need, but I wanted to ask how to join that group that sends books to soldiers.  What an awesome idea!

I don't have any of those romances, but I'll donate 10 credits to your cause so you can order them from others.  Sent you a PM to this effect.  I have sent boxes of books to another organization that sends them to military people, too.

As a mother and wife of military men...THANK YOU everyone for supporting the solders!!  My son tells me about all the boxes they receive and how appreciated they are.

Just seeing your generosity on this thread is amazing and encouraging. :-)

I'd love to be told how to donate books to worthy causes such as this!

I don't have romance, but PM me about deals or credits I can offer.  Wonderful idea!

The route I have used to donate books to soldiers is "operationpaperback.org."  They send you a list of people who want books and any specific requests etc.  I've been getting rid of some unpostables, ARC's, and nes that have hundreds of books posted here to clear off my shelf.  I sent all of mine that had been on my shelf for >2 years awhile back.    If any of you want to do this send me a PM for some advice re packing, customs forms etc., because I've sent a lot of packages overseas to APO's and FPO's as well as to actual people that you have to pay internationsl postage.   (The ones to military personnel  are the same postage rates as domestic including media mail, though they take a bit longer.)  Winston

Thanks for the advice Winston!  I have used a similar website to donate books.  I am now using anysoldier.com and soldierangels.com.  Also feel free to PM with any questions.  Anything beyond media mail has to be sent priority mail when mailing to an APO and FPO, and now the USPS offers a flat rate box for 11.00.  Which sometimes makes shipping to soldiers the expensive part of the effort :(

Forgot...you can also try booksforsoldiers.com

Hey there. I think this is a great thing that you are doing. I'm currently offering three for one on my book shelf but for you, and the soldiers I'll make it four for one. I'm also going to gift you a credit. (I only have one right now) Keep up the great work!
