Hi All.   I am not sure if people are going to be able to help - but figured it was worth a shot.

I always get my neices books for Christmas.  While looking this year for possible titles, I got the idea of maybe trying to find ones where the child name is in the title.   Unfortently, some of the girls names were easier than others

Can anyone think of possible titles for the following names?  (If not title, then maybe main or some character is named that?)

The girls are aged 4-7, don't mind something that woud have to be read to them. (Or for that matter it's a novetlity so picture books are ok).  I would prefer something with a bit literary merit - but even a "junk" book would work if I can find all the names.

The names are

Kara

Emily (an easy one - but would love to hear opinions on what ones would be suggested out of all of them out there)

Danielle (or DJ)

Brianna

Jessica

The boys are less of a concern (one becaause of age/abilty, other because their names are more common)

David  or Davey (18 months)

Anthony

Love to hear what people come up with.

Thanks

Suzanne

Here are some suggestions:

Kara--The Big, Red Blanket by Harriet Ziefert (has a main character named Kara)

Emily--Emily by Michael Bedard (very good book)

Danielle (or DJ)--Danielle's Dollhouse Wish by Joan Holub (part of the Dollhouse Hospital series)

Brianna--Jamaica and Brianna by Juanita Havill? Havril?

Jessica--Jessica by Kevin Henkes

David  or Davey--Oh, David by David Shannon (there are several in this series)

Anthony--Big Anthony by Tomie de Paola

I know there is a series of fairy books, each with a girl's name in the title.  They're by Daisy someone.  I don't know if they're any good.  Maybe some of the American Girls have these names?

Great idea, by the way.

Thank you so much.  I am so thrilled that this idea is going to be possible.  I was worried especially about the name Kara.  (Curious if a reference book/website/way to do a book search by character name even exists?)

To add some information to the above post

The fairy books are by Daisy Meadows  (There are at least 11 different girls names I saw, Danielle and Emily were amongst them)

As for American Girls, there's Addy, Felicity, Josefina, Julie, Kit, Kirsten, Kaya, Molly, and Samantha.  (There could be more - but those are what I saw.  Wow I feel old.  Last I looked (at least 10 years ago, probably more) there were only 3 girls in this series. (I want to say they were Samantha, Felicity and Molly).)   I knew they were going to be adding others - but funny how I haven't looked back in years.

Thanks again

Suzanne

PS - If anyone knows others - feel free to add more posts. (These children get books from me often - so always good to have titles on hand).

I had no idea about Kara, so I went to my library's website, where you can search for keywords that are in a book, as opposed to in the title only.  You can then narrow the results to children's materials and then look at the summaries of the books.

Again, I think this is a great idea!  I'll keep it mind for my girls next year (Katie--easy, and Erin--I'll have to look).

The American Girl Molly (1940's) has a best friend named Emily.  Emily has her own book now:  "Brave Emily."

There is a series that is Emily and the enchanted frog. I think that is the title of it. My Emily loved it when she was 6 or7.  I am not sure of the title but there were two or three of them. Jean
