I have really enjoyed the Twilight series and was wondering if there are other books out there similar to these. |

I haven't read any of the Twilight series, nor have I seen the movie, but I loved HBO's Tru Blood, and the books they are based on are The Southern Vampire Series by Charlaine Harris.

Another vampire type, YA series that I just love is the Vampire Academy books by Michelle Read (I think I have that right!). A little more "racy" than the twilight series, but really great books! |

I guess it depends on what you mean by "like"...but I enjoyed Holly Black's faerie series (Tithe, Ironsiders and Valiant). |

In the sense of having a "good guy" vampire, there's Tanya Huff's Blood series and Smoke series...but I am not going to say they are similar to Twilight. Last Edited on: 1/25/09 10:05 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Try typing "Twilight" in the search box and see what you come up with! I'm very familiar with the Twilight series, so give it a shot! [: |

Another, older series with a 'good-guy' vampire is Chelsea Quinn Yarbro's St-Germain books, starting with 'Hotel Transylvania.' A friend said, 'I know you don't much like vampire books, but try this one,' and I stayed up reading till 3 AM because I couldn't tear myself away from it. I liked the first half dozen books very well, then they got so I couldn't read them; the author seemed to decide it was better to use a long, obscure word ('esurience') when there's a perfectly good shorter one that means the same thing, and also, although she'd clearly done a lot of research, some factual howlers crept in.

If you do then you may want to try Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter/Dream Hunter series. She ties in Greco/Roman mythology with vampires and wereanimals- very catchy and great reading. Other Authors in the Vampire/Paranormal Genre: Laurell K Hamilton Charlaine Harris Kelley Armstrong Patricia Briggs Karen Chance The list goes on.... |

I liked "Sunshine" by Robin McKinley. It's also told from the first person point of view, so there is a ton of internal dialogue. Robin McKinley writes mostly fantasy, usually young adult fantasy. Sunshine is her only "paranormal" book written for adults, but she approaches it like a fantasy, so I thought it was very unique. |

I read "The Vampire Diaries" by LJ Smith series when I was a teenager. To me, the Twilight series totally stole that author's idea. It is a teenage high school girl who falls in love with a vampire. There are differences in the story, but from what I remember of it, I thought it was better then the Twilight series..... but then again it has been about ten years since I read it. Worth looking into!

Like many others, I loved the House of Night series by P.C. Cast. I am in my 30's but really enjoyed it. I had friends read it and they also enjoyed it. |
