Hello,

I have a book on my bookshelf that is on another members wishlist (as noted by the red "w" next to the title).  I'm wondering why the system hasn't notified this member that the book is posted in the system.

Thank you,

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer. Are you sure the W was red when you posted the book? When the next member in line for the book as the item on auto-request (indicated by a green W), there is a 1 hour holding period before the offer will show up on your accounts (there should be an exclamation point, which will explain this if you place your cursor over it). If you posted the book within the last hour, it's likely the member to whom it will be offered has it on auto-request.

Is it possible that you're looking at your bookshelf that includes books received by you that were put on hold? Try looking at your public bookshelf to make sure the book is posted into the system. Or, is the book on WL hold -- which is 48 hours when the book is not auto-requested as indicated by the red W? In the latter case there'll be a gray circle with an exclamation point on the right-side of the listing.

Deb, if the book is in the 48 hour waiting period, it would appear as having been offered to the member. However, you bring up a good point in mentioning the general hold on bookshelf books. When we receive our books, the default option is to place them on our shelf, but on hold so that they're not immediately posted into the system. If the book in question is still on hold following receipt, it wouldn't appear on Jennifer's public bookshelf, but she could check to see whether it's on hold by looking to the left of the book cover image. A bookshelf item, when on hold, will have a green checkmark with a red circle and slash over it; a posted book will display just the green checkmark.

Yes-could be on 48 hour hold waiting for wisher to respond; or on that 1 hour leniency period when you can change your mind to un-post a wishlisted book, but there's also the new 'not now' feature-people click 'not now' and won't lose their place in line for the book, it's for when they don't have credits or whatever.
