Sorry if this has been asked recently... I (quickly) looked through old posts but didn't see anything.

I keep trying to arrange my bookshelf by author because I have multiple books by the same author.  I feel like this would make browsing my shelf much easier.

I keep 'resorting' my shelf based on author, and it does resort.  But it doesn't last.  Every time I go back and check my shelf, the titles are alphabetical again.

Is there some little button somewhere that I am just missing, or will the shelf always default back to alphabetical title listing instead of alphabetical author listing?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Your shelf default is alphabetical,  you can't permanently change it to by author.  You can only temporarily do so.

yep, it stays alphabetical...as a browser I like it that way so that I can quickly look for the title of a book I may be looking for.

My Bookshelf is  based on author's name.  It DOES NOT default to alphabetical....it always stays that way!!

My bookshelf is sorted by date added.  It does not default.  However, I've noticed that when I resort one of my other lists (usually Reminder) all of my lists seem to resort themselves.  I've also had times when someone else has resorted my bookshelf and it's stuck that way next time I look at it.

Well June when I pull up your bookshelf it is sorted by Alphabet....maybe anytime someone looks at our shelves that is what they see...maybe they don't see it the way you do.

My bookshelf is also sorted by author and it remains that way by default. Any time I go to my shelf it is sorted by author. But when I look at other bookshelves I have to resort by author every time. I wish it would set as default for other shelves as well. I know a long time back it used too, then one day it just was no longer a default setting.

when you change how your sort it, it should stay that way until you resort it the next time...at least that is how mine usually works.

I also think it depends on the browser you use. At work on Firefox, my reminder list shows the available books at the top of the list. At work on IE, it shows my reminder list by date listed, and my bookshelf too. At home, both browsers show the last way I had to re-sort the list. Wacky!

Your own bookshelf's sort is kept in a cookie on your machine. If you delete your cookies, or switch browsers or computers, then you lose whatever you set for the sort.

How you sort your shelf will have no effect on how other people see it when they look at it. My shelf/TBR/WL all stay the way I resort them until I change it. I usually have mine on date.
