I think you can only put your entire bookshelf on hold. So, I would just post the books once you're finished reading them.

You can add the books to your To Be Read list here at PBS and then it's just a click or two to get them listed on your bookshelf.

You can hold individual books on your bookshelf so other members can't see them there, not sure how to do that other than when you're marking them received and it asks you if you want it on your bookshelf on hold.  I suppose you could put your account on vacation hold, post those books, then put them on hold on your bookshelf and come off vacation hold.

When you post them on your shelf, go to the book and check the box, then click the "HOLD"  button at the top.  Then when you finish reading it, click the box again the click the "POST" button.  Make sure they aren't WL"D before you add them, I don't think you can hold them then.   You could do as Sarah said and put them on your TBR (you can put WL"d books here no problem), then you just click the "Post this Book" button beside the book.

I usually put them on my TBR pile. The ones that aren't WL, I then put on my reminder list to see how many copies are in the system. Sometimes I will post them before I've read them (not a lot at one time and nothing that isn't an easy/quick read).  And only books with more than 50 copies unless I plan to read right then. Then they work their way up FIFO while you read them.  Putting them on individual hold doesn't move them up FIFO.

And I only recommend doing this with a few books at at time, and only if you can knock a book off quickly if it's ordered before you excpet it to be.  I can read one in one night if I need to and so that's why I do it sometimes. I also go on vacation a lot to control postage costs and so just stay on hold until I've read them.
