Hi there!!  We're a homeschooling family with six (ages 13 all the way down to 11 months)...and I was just looking for other boxers to trade mostly kids books, but also the occasional book for mom!  Also, I have some test prep workbooks on my shelf and a few other miscellaneous schoolwork helper-type books peppered here and there.  I have books on my shelf for all ages.

Check out my bookshelf, and if you are interested, send me a PM!

Thanks for reading,

Kathy

I don't have a lot to offer on my shelf right now but I will restock as soon as a few things calm down here. I would love to do a trade. you have a great shelf.

Why thanks, Angel.  Keep me posted.  Ever since I figured out the boxing concept, I am hooked.  As if PBS could get any better!

thanks,

Hi,

I haven't gotten into the box thing yet. But I just got a really good idea from another member. She is doing a 4pound special for 1 credit.

Do you think this works out to be better because it saves trips to the post office?

I'm just trying to figure out if it would be worth it. Sometimes I would just like to give away books and not have so many to try and find room for.

I would be happy to do a 4 for 1 on school books and readers or even a 4 pounds credit but I do not have a scale.

Thanks for helping decide what to do.

Hi kathy,

I'm also a homeschooling mom to 6. Mine are ages 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 and 2 1/2 months. I don't have a whole lot of children's books. I keep most of them . But I do have a few.

Hi again,  Kendra , I just sent you a PM.

Tricia:  I think it depends on what the books are as to whether the value is better.  For me, I absolutely LOVE the boxing, because even when you don't have any credits, you can still trade books...you don't have to wait for someone to order books from your shelf.   When I first saw the boxing thing, I thought you just got the books that someone sent...in other words I thought you  had no control over what books you received.  But that is not the case, you have 100% total control over the books you receive.  And if someone makes a boxing offer and they don't have any books on their shelf that you are interested in, then you simply can decline the offer.  It's a brilliant idea, and the way they've set it up in the system is very easy to use.  I joined in December and have gotten so many more books than I could have using simply credits...an excellent value for the money.

I highly recommend it.

Boxer here also

Or for those who aren't boxers, I will do 2 for 1 on my shelf until further notice.

I'm glad you started this thread. I'm very new to boxing and haven't had time to put much on my shelf yet.  I really like it.  I feel bad though if someone makes an offer and has like 400 books and I can't find any I want. Have you had people decline your offers? Did you feel bad?

Thanks,

Nancy

I haven't had anyone decline an offer but on the other hand I haven't made many offers. lol

I've declined 2 that had only romance on their shelf (not my genre) and 1 whose taste was so similar to mine that I already owned most of what was on her shelf!

I sure do prefer boxing because I want to save my credits for WL books.

I am a Homeschooler who has done many boxes.  At first I did feel bad declining boxes.  But my first week as a Boxer I must have gotten 11 offers!

Now that I have been doing it awhile, it is no big deal to decline or be declined.  I just can't aford to send a box to everyone who wants to trade.  If someone declines my offer...I just keep looking in the sysem till I find what I am looking for and send out another BOB request!

I keep the books that are in the system that I would like in the future, on my reminder list.  Then every once in awhile I go through them, to see if any other boxers have them

Hope that helps!  Blessings, Carrie

Thanks Carrie.  I was amazed that I got 3 offers the first week since I only had about 12 books on my shelf!  The problem is I have loads of books I'd love to share but I don't really need  many.

I just signed up to be a boxer based on this thread!  I never considered that I wouldn't have to use my credits, duh!

Thanks!

You are welcome.  I was hoping I wasn't providing too much info!

Welcome to Boxing Leslie, you will love it.  PBS people are great toswap with!

I wish I had that frame of mind Nancy.  Unfortunately, I seem to think I can never have too many books.  Even when I can't possibly read them all!  I think it goes back to my childhood...when my Mom would only let me pick ONE book from that Scholastic book flyer!

Wow, I haven't checked this thread in a week or so, and wham!  it looks like it took off!!  Cool...Like I said before, I LOVE boxing.  I always try to find something when someone offers me a box...but the neat thing is you can do what YOU need to do, what suits your situation.  That's what I love about it.  And it's been said so many times that it's cliche, but PBS people are great.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Mother's Day,

Kathy

I've been thinking about becoming a Boxer for awhile. I really enjoyed this thread, and it looks like several people joined BOB too from it.

Now to go check my Reminder list to see if anyone has some of the books on it!

I have some questions about BOB, and am more comfortable asking here than in the main forums.

I've had several BOB offers since signing up for it yesterday. There have been a few where they wanted from 2-5 books from my shelf, but I found nothing on their shelf that interested me. Part of that is my overfilled TBR shelf, not to mention that ALL of our many bookshelves are overflowing!! I have already declined 3 offers because of this.

I would really like to get rid of the books they've requested though. Is it "done" to offer them a deal for credit(s)? Something like, "All 4 of the books you want for 1 credit"?

I realize that it would move this back off of the BOB side of things, so they would have to request one of the books through the main system, and the rest be considered freebies. That would be fine with me.

I would really like the opinion of some experienced Boxers before offering this.

Thanks!

Chandra

I've done that before. Someone wanted 3 books but all they had was romance (not my genre). I just pm'd them and said I'm sorry but there isn't anything on your shelf I need right now but if you would still like the books, I can send them all to you for 1 credit. Just order one and pm me as a reminder. (or something like that).

I've actually done this twice, 1 person took me up on the deal, the other declined.

The worst they can say is no.

I'm relatively new to paperback swap,  and I just became a boxer last week.  I love it!  I have lots of stuff for 3rd grade and under,  and will have more 4th grade items very soon,  because that's what grade my dd is finishing up now.  I'll have children's and grown up's literature and nonfiction,  from time to time,  as well.

Hey all I finally had a minute to stop and read this thread!  I have to say I love being a boxer, but you know the funny thing I've been doing around a year (I think) and I still feel terrible if I have to decline a box because I can't find anything.  Unfortunately I'm not into certain genres so I have to say no to some boxes, But I still feel about two inches tall!!!  lol

ETA:  I have quite a few books in all ages on my shelf  feel free to check it out.  We are hs'ers also  but my kids are spaced out age wise so it's hard to keep all the books!  :-(

My shelf is heavy with children's books.

I'm looking for Love Inspired and Heartsong books.
