A wonderful book written in the 1950's. John Henry is a little boy with a vivid imagination. His cat and dog are always with him on his many adventures. An old wooden barrel turns into a dragon to fight, a tree into a giant and many more.
His imagination is so real his cat and dog become frightened each time and run in fear. Until they turn the tables and John Henry's imagination turns on him and he is afraid.
I liked the book because it goes back to a time when children played with their imagination instead of computer games and expensive toys.
I think it would inspire a child to use their imagination, something many don't know how to do today.
A very good book.
