great reading for kids, perhaps 10+ yrs. of age. A kid's eye view of living in a war torn country ruled by the Taliban. However not so frightening that they won't relate. Central character is a brave girl. Relatively happy ending.

I read this book when I was much younger, but it is a classic, with hardships people must deal with in real life. It all seemed surreal to me, but in reality, stuff like that happens every day. A powerful and moving story.

A fictional book about life in Afghanistan, where women and girls are severely restricted in their freedoms. The author has been to Afghan refugee camps.
