In club members thoughts I asked if I could borrow a credit that I would repay in a few days when I get more money in my pay pal account. I was going to buy one myself from the board but I haven't been here in a long time and didn't realize that the price had gone up so I didn't have enough in my pay pal to purchase one. If I remember correctly the last time I was here credits were $2.50. Anyhow it appears I ticked someone off by asking to borrow one. If that is against the rules then I apologize.

Hi - you double - posted so I would eliminate one of the messages.

I don't think there is any rule against asking to borrow a credit and return it when you can or have more in your paypal acct to forward the money.  I think many members see it as cyber begging and with some recent scams it is extermely a hot topic.   Also how did you phrase the request?   I would ask buddies first to borrow.  I will be corrected I am sure if there is a rule - but I didn't see any in the help docs. Credits can be sold or given away per the help docs.  I think the only place you can put that type of request is in the BB.  I have buddied a credit - I hope you enjoy the book and maybe when I am in the same position maybe you can buddy it back to me or send a credit to another member who could use a credit and doesn't have the cash.  Keep up the act of kindness.

edited to rephrase last sentence.

Thank you for your kindness. I haven't been here for quite a while so if I was wrong for posting it where I did then I apologize. I saw the double post but wasn't sure how to go about fixing it. Thanks again!

Donna - I think the only thing that went wrong it had to be in the book bazaar and not CMT.  Here are the rules for book bazaar:

  • Requests to "lend a credit". Members sometimes ask for credits to be lent to them.   This is okay as long as members follow these rules:
  • The original post in the topic should specify clearly (1) how many credits are needed (maximum 6) and  (2) a timeframe to repay them.
  • Any members who lend credits in response to these threads must post in the topic that they have given credits, and how many.
  • When the member who asked for a loan has gotten the credits she needs, she must edit the topic title and the original post to say "Thank you--no more replies needed!" .
  • No member should post a topic asking to borrow credits more than once per month, and can do this a maximum of 2 months in a row.  So it is okay to ask in January and again in February, but that same member cannot ask again after that until April.
  • Anyone giving credits to a member in response to this kind of topic who expects repayment should send a PM saying "I have lent you [x number of] credits - pay me back when you can".
  • Anyone giving credits to a member in response to this kind of topic who does NOT expect repayment should include in her PM "I have sent you [x number of credits] - no need to repay".
  • These credit loan topics may not appear anywhere but Book Bazaar. The original poster may bump the topic if she needs to only once.

You posted in the wrong forum that's all.  That topic should be posted in the Book Bazaar forum and not in the CMT forum.  Someone mentioned that to you but you must not have read all the post there.

Sadly, asking for a credit in CMT is like tossing chum into shark infested waters.  While I do believe you (editorial, not to the OP specifically) need to know the rules before you ask for a credit, we all make mistakes.  It's odd what riles folks up.
