Do not let the size of this book intimidate you! Even though it is 437 pages, you will be done with it before you realize it and wishing it was twice as long! I read at night and found myself staying up way too long to read just a little more until I was drooling on my pillow and the book was slipping out of my hand.
This is Ms. Heitzmanns 3rd book in this series. I have read them all. I feel you can easily read it by itself, but if you do, you will definitely want to read the others! The story was also very fast paced and there are no lulls or dull moments. The author has a talent of describing the settings and the characters so vividly that you just naturally picture them in your mind. Your own personal mental movie!
I loved the surprise element. Every time I thought I had the next twist in the plot figured out, the story would go in a totally different direction.
Morgan Spencer is wealthy, handsome, and after 2 years still deeply grieving the sudden loss of his wife. The only thing to keep him going is his 2 year old daughter Livie. His brother Rick and his wife Noelle have helped him but he feels it is time for him and Livie to create a life of their own. He buys a deceased neighbors house to make the transition.
Quinn is hired by the neighbors daughter to cull through the home and sell whatever is of value, not knowing Morgan has purchased it as is. Morgan and she are thrown together when he makes a surprise visit to inspect his new home. Meeting her stirs feelings in Morgan he never thought he would have again. Surprisingly his daughter is quite taken with her too. Quinn has lived the last four years in fear and hiding. Her testimony sent a very wicked man to jail. She finds out he is out of prison and looking for her to seek revenge.
When Morgan learns of her need for anonymity and protection, he impulsively proposes marriage, strictly business of course. She will remain safe and he will have someone to take care of his child. No strings attached.
Neither of them are prepared for what is to come. Both must learn to hope and love again, letting go of their pain from the past. As problems arise, Morgan finds his faith in God and biblical truths to come alive as Quinn struggles to trust God and others again.
This is beautiful story of unexpected love, healing, and learning to let go of the past. Add to all this, the romance, suspense and mystery and you have a fantastic book! You will want to read this one!
I received this book free from Bethany House Publishers. I was not required to

When I found The Breath of Dawn in my mailbox, I was surprised. I know that I must have requested it, but... well, we won't talk about how forgetful this middle-aged momma can be sometimes. ~smile~ So, I sat down to read. I wasn't interested. Bummer. But, I've got to review it, right? So, I kept reading... prologue, chapter 1, chapter 2.... Then one of my kids wanted attention. Gee, I didn't want to stop reading! Somewhere in there, Kristen Heitzmann made the characters so real to me, I wanted to know where this story was going. By day 2, I found myself on page 86. How'd I find the reading time? You guessed it. I stayed up a bit too late, again.

Day 4, ugh, it's a thick book, and I don't want to put it down!

This is a captivating story line. There are so many threads going, intrigue, supernatural, romance, suspense, murder. I don't even know just how I'd categorize it. I just know that I didn't even want to put it down! I read it in a matter of days. It's a thick book 437 pages. Well worth the time and money in my opinion.

Wow! I am absolutely in love with this book! You all know my love of suspense books and this was an excellent one! The suspense level was up there but it also had a bit of the creepy. Kind of scary, if you know what I mean. But there was a lot of other elements in this book as well that made me push on, in spite of it giving me the creeps:)

The characters are ones you will know from the previous books. Morgan Spencer is a wealthy man who lost his wife. But his little girl, Livvie, has kept his barely surviving. He has basically shut down otherwise. Then a woman stumbles into their life and he starts to feel like living again. Quinn is such a likable heroine and I totally fell in love with her. Witty, quirky, vulnerable and yet strong in many different ways she made a good opposite for Morgan. There were times I cried and times I laughed. Olivia is such a sweetheart and a grown up in a child's body. You will get to see Noelle and Rick as they grow and their family expands. Overall an excellent book! I would urge caution in giving this to younger teens as there are a couple spots that were intimate. Not a lot of detail but just enough. Loved this series!!

I received a copy of this book for my review purposes. I did not receive any monetary compensation. All thoughts are 100% mine.

I have enjoyed this book. Kristen Heitzman always tells a good story. Some passages you may not want to read late at night. Gives another thought about the things that go bump in the night. Very good read.

Morgan Spencer has been living in the depth of despair since his wife Jill was killed. He's been living at his brother Rick's ranch to try to heal. Rick & Noelle have helped care for his daughter, Olivia, but he realizes that he needs to slowly return to his life again. Quinn Reilly tried to do the right thing, but now she lives in fear. Her ebay store allows her to have an income while remaining anonymous. Quinn comes to Juniper Falls to check out an estate sale. While there, she encounters the infamous Morgan Spencer. She's drawn to him and his sweet little girl. But trouble is just around the corner. When Quinn starts receiving threats from the man she sent to prison, she asks Morgan for help. Solving problems is Morgan Spencer's specialty. But his solution to this problem sends them on a path they didn't expect with an outcome they couldn't anticipate.

Breath of Dawn is a fantastic, well-written, spell-binding story! It's one that once you pick it up, not only do you not want to put it down, you simply can't! Morgan Spencer was someone that totally intrigued me in Rush of Wings and again in The Still of Night. But I love the Morgan Spencer in Breath of Dawn. He's such an interesting and complex hero. Quinn was very easy to like. She's strong yet vulnerable which makes for a great combination. The relationship between Morgan and Quinn absolutely sizzled and you'll love watching it all unfold before your very eyes. The interaction, as well as the dialog between them, was supreme. There were lots of savory parts that caused me to go back and read them again. The suspense was great but there was also an element of 'creepy' that makes your hairs stand on end. I loved spending time with Rick and Noelle again, as they play a major roll in this story. The characters deal with tremendous heartache, loss, and disappointment but God's goodness and prevailing grace shine through, like a beacon, guiding them through their darkest moments. Though you could read this as a stand alone, I highly recommend you start the journey with Rush of Wings and move through the series. Breath of Dawn is definitely a favorite and has a spot on my keeper shelf!
