Hi guys! I came across A New Kind of Christian/Christianity a few days ago and I'm intrigued by it but I'm a little worried since I've heard its a tad controversial and that Brian has some iffy beliefs?!  I'm just wondering if anyones read his books and recommends them or not.  I'm young and I'm interested in not necessarily the emerging church but in a newer kind of faith that's more about a relationship and less about strict rules and church going (not that those aren't there and still important but its still not relevant for most teenagers and young adults and I'm trying to reach out to these generations!)

Thanks & God Bless!

Brian Mclaren is part of the emergent "church"  Here's a video clip that talks about the emergent church http://www.marshillchurch.org/media/religionsaves/emerging-church

Mclaren, Rob Bell, etc are part of the emergent "church" that holds onto new age and says things like the virgin birth of the trinity don't necessarily have to be true.

Mars Hill Church in Seattle is an emerging church (MUCH different then an emergent church)  Mars Hill Church www.marshillchurch.org is said to be spiritually/doctrinally conservative and culturally liberal.  We hold fast to spiritual truths

without being legalistic.  (at least we try)  Check it out :-)
